About Tiree
Tiree is the most westerly island of the Inner Hebrides, located off Scotland's west coast. Known for its stunning white sandy beaches and turquoise sea, Tiree gained the nickname 'Hawaii of the North'. It is one of the sunniest places in Britain and thanks to the warm Gulf stream benefits from milder temperatures than the mainland. It is however, also windy! This makes for great windsurfing and kite flying conditions and brings the added benefit that, with the exception of unusually still days, Tiree is virtually midge free!
Only 12 miles long and 3 miles wide, Tiree has a population of around 600. With its lush green fields and wildflower covered machair, surrounded with pristine white beaches, Tiree is beautiful, peaceful and just a little bit magical. Tiree is also largely flat, leading to unobscured beautiful views and seemingly endless sky.
As there is very little light pollution, Tiree is a great place to stargaze and in the winter months you may be lucky enough to see the northern lights.
Tiree is an ideal holiday spot for those who want peace and quiet and a break from the busyness of life. Equally Tiree can offer an action packed holiday, full of water sports, boat trips and adventure.
